Torrington Livestock Market
Start in Denver, then on to Wyoming
Today was a good day as I grabbed lunch American Cowboy Magazine publisher Bill Garrels. We discussed putting together some joint USCA/American Cowboy events. The sky is truly the limit on these projects!
Overall, Denver has been good, but I have to say: the traffic can be a bit maddening. I could not have been more happy to point the Blue Bandit north and head for Torrington, Wyoming. I called a top hand and good friend of the cattle industry Lex Madden to let him know I was in town for the Friday cattle sale at Torrington Livestock Market.
Lex promptly sent the Torrington Livestock Market field representative Jeff Ward to pick me up to meet the Madden family and some area ranchers for dinner. I had a great time with this crew and can’t thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality.
Torrington Livestock Market
Good cattle, good people, and a darn good little restaurant! All of this I know now after spending time with the market owners Lex and Shawn Madden. Lex and I had hearty breakfast during which we had a good discussion regarding USCA’s efforts in Washington D.C. and the need to build membership support in Wyoming. Throughout the day, I enjoyed watching the sale and chatting with several folks including Rod Gray and Shawn Madden. I sure appreciated Rod making a special trip from just across the state border in Nebraska to spend time at the sale and introduce me to several folks.
How good is Torrington Livestock Market: well, just take a look at all these bull wracks and fifth wheeler trailers. They sold 8000 head of cattle today, and the majority brought top market prices!
