Snow at Abbott Ranch

After working calves all morning, we headed into the cookhouse for a quick bite. About that time, the snow started falling, and we decided I better get on the road pretty quickly. From there I headed north thru the Sand Hills to Rapid City. The roads got worse and worse as I neared Rapid City. Rapid City has always treated me very well and holds a special place in my heart so I figured it was as good as place as any to wait out the storm!

Still at the Abbott Ranch

Today involved digging some post holes and fixing fence along with moving cattle. Today was Election Day… and a very exciting election day for quite a few reasons. Notably I accomplished a lifelong goal! I have always wanted to be a guest commentator on an Election Night news broadcast. Well Chase Adams, Gary Matthews, and the rest of the good folks at KBHB radio in Sturgis, South Dakota helped make this dream a reality. I was able to call in hourly throughout election night and participate in a roundtable discussion with Chase Adams and Gary Matthews. We analyzed and discussed the latest election results from the South Dakota State Legislature races to the Presidential and Congressional races from across the country! Of course, there were other reasons election day was excited, and we’ll talk more about that in a bit.

What a picture is worth

Post ICON Convention found me bound for the Abbott Ranch. Chris Abbott and I figured we can spend some time meeting with ranchers in the Sand Hills. Of course anytime you are at a ranch, there’s a good chance some work needs to be done. I could talk about what we did, but I always say a picture (and video!) is worth a thousand words.
